Obituary of Albert Joseph Gentless

Albert Joseph Gentless, age 90, of Largo, passed away surrounded by his family on March 10th, 2024. He was born and raised in Camden, NJ, to Alfonso and Irene Gentilesco. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden and served in the United States Army. Al met the love of his life, Anna D’Intino,  and married her on November 10th, 1956. They started their life together in South Jersey and had four children; Albert, Donna, Deborah, and Thomas.

Al worked at New Jersey Zinc Company before relocating to Sea Isle City, NJ, where he built, owned and operated Mainland Harbour Marina. He was a dedicated, hard-working father, attending his children’s sporting events and enjoying boating, fishing, and crabbing as a family. Al also enjoyed building “kit cars,” such as Jaguars and Mercedes.

After selling his marina, the family moved to Seminole, Florida in 1983. Al never formally retired as after moving to Florida, he opened an Italian bakery that he operated with his family. When the bakery sold, Al enjoyed turning pontoon boats into “Food Boats” operating off Shell Island in Pinellas County. He had numerous other interests and jobs and was always busy with a project. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. Al and Anna loved going to the beach and their trips to Italy, but they mainly spent time with their children and grandchildren. They often hosted Sunday Dinners and family get-togethers, enjoying Anna's Italian dishes.

Al was preceded in death by his soulmate, Anna, in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Anthony, Frances, and Virginia. He is survived by his children, Albert (Patricia) Gentless of Palmetto, FL, Donna (John) Collins of Largo, FL, Deborah (Jason) Lurie of Hernando Beach, FL and Thomas (Annette) Gentilesco of Largo, FL. Al is also survived by ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friendly, kind, and helpful to all, Al will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.

Al and Anna will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Friday, March 29th, at 2:00pm. Al will receive Military Honors for his service to our country. Please arrive at 1:45pm for the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Al’s name to Amvets or AccentCare Hospice. On a computer, these links are to the left side of the page. On a mobile phone, use the drop down arrow at the top of the obituary.
